Twelve Signs of the Presbyterian Zodiac

Many cultures have their own zodiac signs to help explain personality types. But what about in our Presbyterian culture?

Here’s one—just for fun.

What would you add to these descriptions?

Knoxian (March 21 to April 19) — The Reformer

Bold, passionate, and sometimes a bit fiery, those born under this sign channel the spirit of John Knox. They love a good sermon and never back down from a theological debate.

Westminsterian (April 20 to May 20) — The Confessionalist

Steadfast and reliable, these individuals live by the Westminster Confession and Catechisms. They value structure, sound doctrine, and well-ordered worship.

Sessionarian (May 21 to June 20) — The Ruling Elder

Highly diplomatic and thoughtful, this sign is always making sure church life runs smoothly. Great at moderating discussions, they’re the backbone of Presbyterian governance.

Predestinarian (June 21 to July 22) — The Chosen One

Deeply introspective and sometimes a bit mysterious, this sign reflects the complexities of election and divine sovereignty. They trust in God’s providence but can struggle with overanalyzing their own assurance.

Orderian (July 23 to August 22) — The Worshipper

Everything must be done properly! Those under this sign thrive in well-structured worship services, detailed bulletins, and church meetings that follow Robert’s Rules of Order.

Psalmist (August 23 to September 22) — The Musician

Lovers of traditional hymns and psalmody, these Presbyterians are drawn to the beauty of the Psalter and the depth of theological lyrics. They probably have strong opinions on whether instruments should be used in worship.

Covenanter (September 23 to October 22) — The Loyalist

Fiercely committed to the faith and historical Presbyterian values, Covenanters hold fast to their heritage. They’re principled, sometimes stubborn, but always passionate about church history.

Presbytery-an (October 23 to November 21) — The Strategist

The ones who understand church polity inside and out. They navigate church government like a pro, knowing when to push forward and when to let the Spirit (and the committee) work.

Theologian (November 22 to December 21) — The Thinker

Deeply philosophical, this sign spends late nights reading Calvin’s Institutes and discussing systematic theology. They love a good theological rabbit hole and can sometimes forget practical matters.

Moderator (December 22 to January 19) — The Peacemaker

Wise and balanced, this sign excels at leading church meetings, finding compromise, and ensuring everyone has a voice. They’re patient but firm when needed.

Missionary (January 20 to February 18) — The Evangelist

Always looking to spread the Gospel, this sign thrives in outreach and church planting. They love discussing theology over coffee and always have a book recommendation.

Steward (February 19 to March 20) — The Servant

The quiet yet essential workers of the church, they’re faithful in small things—whether it’s organizing potlucks, balancing the budget, or supporting missions. The church couldn’t function without them.
